There’s nothing more magical than a white Christmas getaway. Building snowmen, making snow angels, tiny tots with little rosy-cheeked faces alive with the wonder of it all. But what Bing Crosby forgot to tell you is that there’s nothing less magical than a bored, cranky, snowbound tot whose parents are at a loss for things to do. Well, fear not! Events Hakuba has the ultimate guide to all things Winter, Christmas, and Hakuba! From snow bikes and sleds to skiing Santas, there won’t be a fussy face this Christmas vacation.

Lion Adventure Kids Area
Sakka, one of the best slopes for beginners and kids in Happo, is getting a major kid-friendly facelift this season, courtesy of the experts in all things fun, Lion Adventure. Entry is just 500 yen and there are endless exciting activities to keep your little snow bunnies occupied, with snow bikes, scooters, sleds, snowshoes, and inner tubes available for hire. For those with a taste for adventure, try snow rafting or a turn on a snowmobile! There is a small charge for equipment hire and activities, or for maximum bang for your buck, get the kiddies a one-day passport.
Jigatake Kids Area and Christmas Events
Also upping their kids’ park game this season is Jigatake. With one of the biggest kids’ snow parks in the Hakuba area, your little ones can play without the worry of collisions. Plus, the on-the-snow “lift” that brings them to the top of the play area couldn’t be safer. But the best thing about Jigatake this season is the Christmas events. Bring the kids along to the boxing day treasure hunt on December 26th, where 30 lucky youngsters per session can hunt for Christmas presents in the snow! The first session starts at 11am and the second at 2pm. Then on December 29th dress in your finest Santa costume (both jacket and pants) and receive a free lift pass for the day!
Nakiyama Snowland
When you need a map just to find your way around all the attractions, you know it must be good! The brand new Snowland on the Nakiyama slope in Happo promises to be a favorite this season, with a covered magic carpet, a castle in the snow complete with slide, igloos, and all kinds of fun snow equipment to ride.
Ski Lessons with the Ski Concierge Kids Club
The well-established Ski Concierge school is offering a kids’ club for the first time this season, and they’re getting the snowball rolling with a discounted 10 private lesson package that guarantees the same instructor every time. Your little ones can opt for skiing or snowboarding and the instructor can focus on exactly what they need to improve their riding. What better way to make sure your little ones are safe, learning, having fun, and best of all, costing you about the same as group lessons! Take advantage of this deal and your kids will be sliding down the hill in style.
Nothing beats a true white Christmas, especially when it comes with castles, magic carpets, and presents hidden in the snow. Send off the year with Christmas in Hakuba and give the kids one to cherish and remember.
